Update 09/12

Still nothing confirmed with Man O War Winery so how about we have the most flexible plan, I'll throw the portable BBQ and table into War Machine and a few supplies (sausages, bread etc) and we aim to meet at Motukorea Race Buoy at 1100 hrs Sat. Destination options now narrowed to Man O War @ Waiheke "Bottom End" or BBQ on a beach somewhere. Still got my ears on and we'll have a plan soon.

Update 07/12

Yesterday the forecast was for a reach North Fri night and reach south Sunday = perfect. Today it is a dead beat up Fri night and same or even a motor up Sat morning ie Kawau not much fun.

We are currently working on a plan B for Sat night. We need somewhere sheltered from the forecast 10-15 knot Northerlies.. Any ideas of an anchorage sheltered from the North ideally with a cafe/bar/restaurant that we could gather in on Saturday night? South side or bottom end Waiheke, maybe even Pine Harbour or Gulf Harbour?

It looks like quite a few are not on Facebook so will try setting up a WhatsApp group at this link: https://chat.whatsapp.com/HlBdTpmYpy3EPPSaI46gvL for instant message banter.

Keep an eye on the 88 event page here https://www.young88.org.nz/events/106784/ and the Facebook event page here https://www.facebook.com/events/333932938134716/

Ideas welcome and let's see what tomorrow brings forecast wise.

Dont know about you lot but I have had enough of this virus and am just keen to get away on the boat and have some fun even if it is only for one night :)

Mike

Invite

Happy Birthday Young 88. ....

The first Young 88 Paddy Wagon hit the water in December 1981 and we are celebrating 40 years of fantastic class racing and cruising.

Plan A, Covid and Health Dept willing is to sail to a destination Friday night, hopefully Kawau, with cruising race on Saturday followed by a celebration dinner at Kawau Boat Club Saturday night and relaxed cruise home Sunday.

If not possible due to restrictions, then we will probably postpone rather than dilute the plan.

Details to be confirmed. We will need a hand to organise. Any volunteers willing to help?
