This event has passed.
The 88 Association has a strategy called "Kids into Keelboats" to support the sport and the class by providing opportunities for the younger dinghy sailors (and their parents?) to try sailing on a bigger but still very manageable boat.
This is the first night of the plan with 10 or so of the girls plus a few parents and coaches from RAYC keen to have a go in the simple 'no extras" (no spinnakers) "Rum Race" Format
RAYC Message to their sailing academy....
- "As part of our programs and events to keep encouraging girls' participation and enjoyment in sailing we have organized a 'Girls on Keelboats day!' Interested sailors will have the chance to race on the RNZYS Friday races on board some Young 88 boats with other experienced sailors and skippers. These races are fun and relaxing, ideal for our academy girls to go and have a great time!"
Race start in Summer is 1635 right in front of the club so meeting time would need to be 1530-1600, quick safety briefing/lifejacket check with dockout not long after.
If we had five boats or more RNZYS will give us our own start making it slightly later if required.
Owners please RSVP here if willing to join us.
