Here’s to a long hot and free summer!

There have been a few changes to the program and a whole line up of great events right on the door step.

We have mixed it up even more this year and are trying some new ideas to ensure there is something for everyone, racer, cruiser, cruiser/racer, young, old, male, female, kids, no kids......

Northern Fleet - Young 88 40th Birthday Rum Race/Christmas Party! 

• Date: Fri 17 Dec 2021 Time: 16:40 - 20:00
• Schools out and the forecast comes right. Total fun for the whole crew/family.
• No class rules just dress in 88 gear and/or red and green

Y88s @ The Covid Cup!

• This is a one-off substitute for the sadly cancelled Bay Week ☹
• The difference with this one is that we are going to mix it up and MAX it up
• We are keen to attract younger sailors and balance up the genders
• All boats welcome but special prizes for those that meet max crew weight 616kgs, age 250yrs and gender rules 70% max of either gender .. all declared

The North Sails Young 88 Sprint Series!

• This is all about sharpening the skills and the crew with the help of the coaches from Norths
• Weather permitting the videos and experts will be out once again. Zoom debrief the following week

The Harken Young 88 Nationals!

• Dates: Sat 19 Feb 2022 10:00 - Sun 20 Feb 2022 20:00
• Not much to say, previous year’s formula work well
• Full on w/l racing inside and outside depending on weather
• Works crews vs weekend warriors with everyone having someone to race
• This is all about the One Design win on line but we will run h’caps like usual
• Weight rule as previous, declared 616kg, no limit on crew number
• Location: Waitemata Harbour

Y88s @ City of Sails Auckland Regatta!

• Dates: Sat 12 Mar 2022 09:00 - Sun 13 Mar 2022 17:00
• This entire event is also different in 2022 becoming the “PHRF Nationals”
• Not to be outdone we decided to flip the script and make an “YEEHRF event”
• We should be able to use the ever awesome “RaceTrack” as the source of the handicaps
• This gives any 88 a chance to get out there and beat their number and win
• Line prizes will also be awarded but secondary to handicap results

It would be great if you can enter these events early to save the organiser’s stress and help build numbers.

It is also handy if you log in to the 88 web site and RSVP to these events to save the volunteers’ time chasing. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it from the login page. We will follow this email with Google Calendar invites to make them even easier to add to the family’s or crew’s electronic diaries.
