Hi all Young 88 Sailors Just a quick update on what has been happening over the last two months and to remind members of the dates for the major Young 88 events. A couple of events have changed dates to avoid clashes with events run by other clubs or associations.

Y88s @ Bay Week Report

Bay of Islands Sailing Week you rock! Competitive fun sailing. Great parties especially the cocktail competition. Congrats to the Kwaussies on Jamiroquai for that win. Harry Thurston took out line honours with an almost perfect score,

Young 88 Fleet Up to 6 entries for the 40th Coastal Classic!

And we are up to 6 entries for PIC Coastal Classic so far with Babe, Dilemma, Dynamo, Jamiroquai, War Machine and Young Mischief! With one month to go before entries close, we could beat our all time record of entries for the great race North.

FOR ACTION: Consultation on the future of the Hardstand at Okahu Bay

Auckland Council are seeking feedback on the Ōrākei Local Board’s vision for The Landing at Ōkahu Bay.  You can see that vision at https://akhaveyoursay.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/thelanding2023 and it does not include a hardstand but instead uses that space for dinghy storage, and parking.

Young 88 Race 2 SSANZ PIC 100 Report

The weather forecast for the SSANZ PIC 100 was much more civilised than that for the PIC 60 on the 1 July, so we had a great fleet of 15 Young 88s. The weather was better than forecast and the showers held off and the race was shortened and delayed by 30 minutes to let the breeze to fill.....
